What to Expect on the Tour
This full-day excursion departs early and combines marine wildlife watching, snorkeling on vibrant reefs, a local seafood lunch on Wasini Island, and a chance to learn about island life and optional visits to nearby historical sites.
Pickup & Transfer to Shimoni
- Early morning pickup from your hotel in Diani or Mombasa and transfer to the KWS/boat jetty at Shimoni at around 6:30 AM.
- Brief on-board safety and park rules; payment of marine park fees if not pre-arranged.
Dolphin Spotting
- Head out to Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park where guides look for pods of playful dolphins often seen close to the boat.
- Time for photographs and observing dolphin behavior from a safe distance.
Snorkelling at Kisite Reefs
- Stop at designated snorkeling sites to swim among coral gardens and colorful reef fish. Snorkel gear and life jackets are provided.
- Guides assist non-swimmers and highlight marine species and reef health.
Wasini Island Lunch & Village Walk
- Sail to Wasini Island for a fresh seafood lunch (often the day's catch) served by local vendors.
- After lunch, take a guided walk through the village to learn about local culture and livelihoods.
Optional Shimoni Slave Caves Visit
- Optional short visit to the historic Shimoni slave caves (if time and interest) to learn about the area's difficult history. This is handled sensitively and respectfully.
Return & Drop-off
- Return to the Shimoni jetty and transfer back to your hotel in the late afternoon.
